It is a surgery to remove the excess skin and fat layer that causes swelling, which can be applied to both the upper and lower eyelid. The aim of the operation is to obtain a flatter, striking and youthful eye area by removing the skin sagging around the eyes, and the fat pads that are formed because of the stress and insomnia over the years. Upper and lower eyelid surgeries can be performed independently or in the same session. It can be applied to both men and women. Lower lid blepharoplasty can be performed with general anesthesia or local + sedation anesthesia, and upper lid blepharoplasty with only local anesthesia. For the upper lid, the incision is placed in the natural upper lid crease, for the lower lid, it is placed immediately parallel to the eyelash bottom. The duration of the operation is 30 minutes – 1 hour for the upper eyelid and 1-2 hours for the lower eyelid. After the surgery, appropriate bands are placed, and dressing is done. The patient can be discharged on the same day as well as he/she can stay at the hospital overnight. There may be mild swelling and bruises on the face.
If regular cold application is made in the early period, it will be minimized. The bandages can be taken off on 2nd or 3rd days after the surgery and can take a bath. Stitches are removed on the 5th day. Swellings and bruises disappear within 7-10 days after make-up application can be done. The patient can return to work after 3-5 days. Light activities can be done after 2-3 weeks while heavy activities can be done after 1 month. For the upper lid, the scars coincide with the natural lid fold, for the lower lid, they coincide just under the eyelashes and their places are not clear. They are hidden in natural anatomical folds. It is a personalized treatment method. As a result of the surgery, the lower eyelid bags are removed, and young upper eyelids are obtained. In order to achieve long-lasting results, eyebrow lifting, forehead lift, mid-face lift, filler and botox, laser skin resurfacing and tightening procedures can be accompanied.
